Ofsted
Ofsted is the Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills. They report directly to Parliament and are independent and impartial. They inspect and regulate services which care for children and young people, and those providing education and skills for learners of all ages.
Understanding the Ofsted Inspection Framework
Under Ofsted’s updated inspection framework, single-word overall effectiveness grades (such as “Good” or “Outstanding”) are no longer issued. Instead, schools are evaluated using a comprehensive Ofsted Report Card designed to give parents, carers, and the community a clearer, more nuanced understanding of school performance.
Inspections evaluate the school across six key evaluation areas using a five-point grading scale:
